It’s been two years since Islandcom relaunched as the first 3G service provider in the Turks and Caicos Islands, and to mark the occasion, Islandcom will host its 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands Competition on June 23. The 2011 Battle of the Bands competition drew a huge crowd to the Turtle Cove Marina on Providenciales to cheer on their favorite local bands, such as Lee Forbes and the Force, Smoking Honey, Hoozya Daddy, Q Band Lynx, Rasta Generation and Bowen Arrow, which took the title last year with Smoking Honey placing second. The grand prize for this year’s event will be $4,000 and Samsung Galaxy handsets with one year of service. Second place winners will receive $2,000 with phone service. Everyone is invited to watch as bands from around the TCI will once again battle for recognition as the best performers in the country. All profits for the event will be donated to the Provo Children’s Home and the Turks and Caicos Kidney Foundation.
