![]() After being open for only two years, both InterHealth Canada hospital centres in the Turks and Caicos Islands have earned the highest accreditation level from Accreditation Canada. “This is an incredible achievement, especially given that the centres have only been open for two years and brought together people from many different areas of the world to work together,” said Roger Cheesman, CEO of InterHealth Canada (TCI) Ltd. “It must be seen as our commitment to achieving the best we can within the limits of the project, and accreditation is the validation of our work to date.” The Qmentum International accreditation program by Accreditation Canada is based on the Canadian health care quality model, ranking various aspects of facilities as gold, platinum and diamond — the highest achievement. The process begins with a Readiness Assessment, which was completed in late 2010. At that time the TCI hospital centres had only 22 percent of its functions rated as diamond. Now the hospital — both its Cheshire Hall Medical Centre on Providenciales and Cockburn Town Medical Centre on Grand Turk — is a fully accredited organisation with the diamond rating. “The entire hospital staff has been involved in some way or another with the process, which has been underway for some considerable time,” Cheesman said. “It is a credit to their determination and tenacity to do the best that can be done to provide excellent service to those who rely on us for care. Long hours have been worked but the entire team has come through it all with this amazing result.”
