Belonger, election registration begins April 16 PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Registration for Belonger status identification cards and to become a qualified elector will begin April 16 instead of April 9 as the government previously announced.

People 18 or older seeking Belonger status cards must bring original documents, including birth or adoption certificates as required, Belonger certificates if granted, naturalization/registration certificates and evidence of residence in the islands. Laminated documents will not be accepted.

Two passport size photos are also required, but they can be taken at registration centers.

People seeking to register to vote must:

  • Be at least 18
  • Be resident in the islands for not less than 12 months, in the aggregate, out of the two years immediately proceeding the qualifying date, or, be a member of Her Majesty’s Forces, a person working abroad on government business or a student abroad in such circumstances as may be prescribed by ordinance
  • Be a Turks and Caicos Islander (Belonger)
