Red Cross trains firefighters in first aid PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 23 March 2012 10:01

The Turks and Caicos Islands Red Cross provided first aid training to 20 firefighters March 19-20 at the Airports Authority Training Facility.

Fire officers are usually the first to arrive at the scene of an emergency where a person may require first aid. It is therefore vitally important that they know what to do to treat any injuries and stabilise the person or persons until the emergency medical services can transport them to hospital.

The Red Cross, in its memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Home Affairs and Public Safety, has agreed to provide the first aid courses free-of-charge to the fire and police services — who were all trained in 2011 — as well as the shelter managers.

The Red Cross is well known around the world for its first aid training courses, and takes very seriously the responsibility to the TCI in providing emergency responders with the necessary first aid skills and the confidence to use them.

The Red Cross has different first aid courses available to suit everyone. For more information on classes and to buy first aid kits, call 941-8056 on Providenciales or 946-2761 on Grand Turk.
