Regent Spa celebrates renewal, where East meets West
Thursday, 15 March 2012 12:37

Two worlds came together on the evening of March 9 when the Regent Palms celebrated the reinvigoration of its highly renowned spa.

Bringing together elements from Regent’s origins in the Far East to the soothing shores of the Caribbean, Regent Palms has re-envisioned its award-winning spa, captivating the complimentary elements of each Eastern and Western destination.

The Regent Palms invited guests, residents and tourism partners to experience the refreshed spa ambiance and completely revamped offering of treatments.

Under the supervision of the spa’s newly appointed Spa Director Stephanie Rest, the 26,000-square-foot spa has been revamped with a new treatment menu, newly-introduced product lines and a soft renovation of the treatment rooms. In addition, the boutique resort’s Executive Chef Eric Vernice has also exclusively crafted a healthy lifestyle lunch menu to encompass the spa’s refreshed new image.

“It is extremely important to us that Regent Palms remains one of the best resort experiences in the Caribbean,” says General Manager Karen Whitt. “We are consistently refining existing amenities and programs, and offering new ones. Our spa is no exception. We are taking our current spa product, which is continually referred to as one of the top in the region, and making it even better.”

Products from organically formulated lines, Sothys and Zents, are implemented within the spa’s world-renowned experiences, including signature Caribbean-inspired treatments such as the “Mother of Pearl Conch Polish,” which uses a precious blend of hand crushed local queen conch shells to gently revitalize and soften, and the indigenous island “Zareeba” treatment during which guests inhale an aromatic steam from a blend of freshly brewed therapeutic herbs followed by a toxin-releasing massage.

Signature Asian-inspired treatments include the “Oriental Essence Ceremony,” a ginger infused salt scrub preceding a massage inspired by ancient Asian and Indian techniques using an aromatic spice sachet filled with smooth pebbles and soaked in warmed exotic oils. The “Bamboo Massage,” practiced throughout Asia as an ancient form of body work, combines elements of techniques where therapists use varying lengths of bamboo to provide maximum muscle tension release in key areas of the body.

“Expectations have increased when it comes to a destination spa experience,” says Rest. “We have upheld the original, superb foundation of the spa, embellishing what has made it a leading spa for years, while introducing a new visage, adding fresh elements that will delight guests, and encourage an extended stay.”

While the spa still evokes the exceptional beauty and magic that has recognized it as one of the World’s Best by Condé Nast Traveler, a noticeable refreshed feel is apparent and was warmly received by all those who were invited to celebrate its rebirth.
