The hot sun did not stop dozens of enthusiastic participants for the Third Annual Chrysalis 5/10K Fun Run/Walk on Oct. 23.

Thanks to support from sponsors Scotiabank, Grace Bay Car Rentals, IGA, Chrysalis Fitness, Islandcom, Flamingo Pharmacy, After 5 Conceirge and Thrifty, Sunday’s event was a runaway success.

More than 80 individuals participated in the race which toured the Grace Bay area starting and ending in the parking lot of the Grace Bay branch of Scotiabank. It was an exciting mixed field with tourists from the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico participating along with many locals.

The event was not only a success for all those who enjoyed the healthy competition, but for the Salvation Army which received all the proceeds from the event, including proceeds from a celebratory pancake breakfast.

The event also served as a warm-up for three local participants who are heading to the Big Apple next week to represent the Turks and Caicos Islands in the New York Marathon on Nov. 6. Lynn Robinson, Todd Foss and Leslie Foss will represent the TCI next to 55,000 participants in the event, making it the largest marathon field in the world.
