The recently formed Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force’s Cold Case Unit in Providenciales has charged a man in the murder of Wensley Joseph on April 12, 2009.

Joseph, who was a 16-year-old fourth form student at Clement Howell High School, was on his way home from a private function in Kew Town when he and his friends became embroiled in a dispute with other males, police said. Joseph was shot and killed.

On Oct. 19, officers from the Cold Case Unit arrested 26-year-old Elvano Rahming and charged him Oct. 20 with murder.

Rahming appeared in Providenciales Magistrate’s Court on Oct. 25 and was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison on Grand Turk pending a sufficiency hearing set for Dec. 7.
