Crime Corner: Police officer suspended after sex allegations PDF Print E-mail

A police officer accused of having sex with a minor has been suspended, police said April 21.

Police in Providenciales received a report April 14 alleging that an officer had sexual relations with a minor.

An investigation by officers from the newly formed Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Unit resulted in charges against Officer Curdaro Missick.

Missick was subsequently suspended from the police force.

Two police cadets released, integrity unit created

The commissioner of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force terminated the employment of two cadets in training on April 21.

“This termination of employment was brought about by incidents that came to light upon the re-evaluation of their applications,” police said.

“The credibility of the RTCPF is paramount, and to this end the commissioner announced the formation of a Professional Integrity Unit which will help to ensure that the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police is a credible and accountable organization.”

Woman charged with possession of marijuana

Police charged a woman April 15 with possession of cannabis.

Lakisha Brooks appeared in court April 19 and elected to be tried on the charge in the Supreme Court, police said.
