Police on Providenciales have charged a local man after he was caught with eight kilograms of cocaine in his possession Jan. 22 at the Providenciales International Airport.

Kendre Wilson, 30, a Turks and Caicos Islander living on Providenciales, was charged with unlawful possession of cocaine and unlawful possession of cocaine with intent to supply, police said.

Police said the cocaine has a wholesale value of $90,348 and a street value of $271,044.

This was the second big cocaine bust in the last week under investigation by Turks and Caicos Islands police.

On Jan. 16, a private aircraft left the TCI and landed in Nassau, where Bahamian police arrested two male Bahamian nationals ages 38 and 45.

One of the men was carrying a suitcase containing 16 packages of suspected cocaine.

Bahamian and TCI police did not release the names of those arrested or say what charges have been made.
