Crime Corner: Cocaine found on private flight from Turks and Caicos PDF Print E-mail

Two Bahamian nationals have been arrested in Nassau after one was found carrying a suitcase containing cocaine, according to Turks and Caicos Islands and Bahamian police.

On Sunday morning, Jan. 16, a private aircraft landed at the Lynden Pindling International Airport after a flight from the TCI. Bahamian police officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested two male Bahamian nationals ages 38 and 45.

One of the men was carrying a suitcase. When it was searched, police found 16 packages of suspected cocaine.

Bahamian and TCI police did not release the names of those arrested or say what charges have been made. Both police forces say they are conducting investigations into this incident.

Local man charged with burglary at Grand Turk hotel

Police in Grand Turk have charged a 21-year-old Turks Islander with aggravated burglary.

Garrick Tucker was charged in connection with an incident that occurred at the Osprey Beach Hotel on Front Street on Sunday, Jan. 9.
