Public Notice: Tuberculosis case isolated incident PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 04 November 2010 09:45

The government confirms (Nov. 3) that a case of tuberculosis has been identified on the Turks and Caicos Islands. The person in question has been isolated, and is undergoing a full course of treatment.

Tuberculosis is less infectious than chicken pox and influenza, and the isolation should be regarded as a preventative measure only. Persons who have recently been in sustained contact with the subject are being interviewed by Ministry of Health officials as a precaution as per the recommendations of the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre www.carec.org.

There is no cause for public concern. This is an isolated incident.
