| Provo Library honors summer’s best readers |

The children of Providenciales came to the library in large numbers for a summer of reading, programs and fun. This year, the Provo Library Branch held its Annual Read-A-Thon and awarded the contest winners at a simple ceremony witnessed by parents, library staff, Youth Affairs officers and fellow children. “This year was very successful,” said Joan Forbes, Provo Branch Librarian. “We had great attendance with our local families. It’s always a lot of fun.” Under the theme “Anytime, Anywhere, Anyplace Read!” the summer contest attracted 19 participants ranging in age from 7 to 12 years. “The contestants challenged themselves to read as many books as possible over the two-week period. Each book read had to be summarized and a written report had to be submitted,” Forbes explained. The winners were:
Each of the top three readers received gift certificates courtesy of Unicorn Bookstore. All participants received consolation gift bags and certificates. Forbes expressed her delight in seeing young minds being educated and entertained through reading and hopes to see the number of participants double next year.
