![]() Students Jonbonae Chung and Sasha Arthur will be attending the British West Indies Collegiate in September, thanks to their hard work and support from local telecommunications company LIME. The two students were awarded scholarships by the company as part of LIME’s ongoing commitment to students in the Turks and Caicos Islands. At a presentation ceremony last week — co-hosted by Leroy Penn, the 2009 GSAT top student and Leslyn Nelson, the first recipient of the Oseta Jolly Scholarship, both LIME scholarship students — the company presented scholarships to Jonbonae and Sasha. The company also will be offering financial assistance to Modlin Orange. These three students join Aaron Lightbourne, Gabrielle Williams, Leslyn Nelson, Leroy Penn, Natalia Williams and Marvin Jennings Jr. as recipients of LIME scholarships or financial aid. The scholarships are reviewed annually by LIME. Jonbonae captured the top spot at this year’s GSAT examination with Sasha being the top student at the Oseta Jolly Primary School and second nationally. Modlin received recognition as the top performing male student at GSAT. Both Jonbonae and Sasha will be attending the British West Indies Collegiate, and Modlin will be attending the H.J. Robinson High School in Grand Turk. In it’s third consecutive year, the LIME scholarship is given to the top male and female performing student at GSAT. LIME extended the presentation to their adopted school at this year’s presentation. The top 10 students from Oseta Jolly Primary School were also recognized due to the excellent performance where four students placed on the top 10 national list for the GSAT examination and the overall commendable performance of the students. Oseta Jolly had nine students who scored 80 percent and above in the GSAT. “LIME will continue to be a part of actively contributing to education, and we are proud of the achievements of these students and with special mention to the students and teachers of the Oseta Jolly Primary School,” said LIME General Manager Drexwell Seymour. “They have done a terrific job.” Director of Education Edgar Howell noted LIME’s participation in the GSAT preparation exercise, giving access to the practice exams for every Grade 6 student, as contributing in the improvement of this year’s results. “LIME has assisted the students with access to the GSAT exercises, and the company has signed on to offer the same in the upcoming year,” Howell said. “This is real commitment to education and we are grateful to LIME. The department thanks LIME for its continued support in this area.” Seymour has said that LIME hopes to eventually give scholarships to tertiary level education.
