At approximately 6.30 a.m. June 24, 911 received a call from a concerned citizen who reported a sloop landing in the Turtle Tail area of Providenciales.
The Maritime Division of the Royal Turks and Caicos Police Force was notified and immediately dispatched a duty crew to the location. When the duty crew arrived, the boat had already landed and most of those aboard had already disappeared into the bush. All available officers were out searching the area trying to round up the illiegal migrants, but no further details are available at this time. The radar project has been on the government's list for some time, but it ran into a holding pattern when government funds became tight. "Our resources are stretched to the limit," Hall said, and the radar would go along way in protecting the borders of the country
