Funworld mini golf course owner David Been shot and killed one man and wounded another when he responded to a burglar alarm at his business on Leeward Highway early Tuesday. Been called police at 4:42 a.m. on May 11 to report the incident. Police arrived to find Been with two men, one who was dead when police arrived, said Assistant Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams. Police identified the dead man as Stenneth Forbes, a Turks and Caicos Islander and resident of Discovery Bay. An autopsy is expected to be conducted over the weekend. The second suspect who was apprehended by police at the scene was Fratz Fenelus a Haitian national. He was taken into police custody where he remains. A third suspect, Lorrand Prospere also a Haitian national, was apprehended by police shortly after their arrival and was transported to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre for treatment of gunshot wounds. The police were not able to confirm if the suspects had any weapons on them at the time they were apprehended. Adams said Been received an alert that his burglar alarm was set off and went to Funworld to investigate. It appeared that the burglars had gained access to the building by breaking through shutters on the west side of the building. When he entered the building, Been found three men in the act of robbing his business, Adams said. While details are still unclear about what exactly occurred, police said they arrived to find Been and two of the three suspects. All three suspects were confirmed by police to have been on their wanted list, identified as having been involved in previous burglaries on the island. From the initial investigation, Adams said there were damages to gaming machines, and cigarettes and coins were strewn across the floor. Adams said the investigation will continue and results will be turned over to the Attorney General’s office. Asked about Been’s actions in the incident, Adams said, “This investigation will take the normal course as any case does.”
