Fortis Inc. has donated $2,000 to the Turks and Caicos Heart Foundation (TCHF), a national voluntary health association whose mission is to improve public and medical awareness about heart disease. Fortis is the parent company of Provo Power Company (PPC) Ltd., whose employees selected the Heart Foundation because of the important work the organisation is doing to promote a healthy life style in our local schools and community. The TCHF not only provides information to the general public but also provides assistance to and referrals for individuals suffering from heart disease. “We are extremely grateful and appreciative to PPC for their support and kind donation we have received from them,” said Karen Malcolm, president of the TCHF. “Our aim is to build healthier lives, free from cardiovascular disease in the TCI, and PPC’s donation will help us achieve our goals for the year. “We believe that we cannot expect the medical profession to take care of us alone. We also have to do our part by eating healthy, exercising and ensuring that our blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol are always at a normal rate.” PPC and Fortis opted to make a donation to a worthy cause instead of investing in the tradition of exchanging Christmas cards in 2009. A donation was made to a charity based in each of the countries where Fortis operates.
