The “Grammy Awards” of Soca, called International Soca Awards (iSA) is set to hand out awards and citation to the best Soca artists at Downtown Ballpark in Providenciales on October 30, 2009. The Caribbean-wide award-giving body is on to its seventh year and dubbed this year’s ceremony as “Lucky 7 Award Ceremony”.

After Six successful years in New York 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007, Trinidad in 2005, and St. Kitts in 2008, organizers say that the 2009 event promises to be the biggest yet. According to them, the ceremony’s perspective is to showcase Soca music in its most ostentatious yet elegant and classy form, creating notice and appreciation along the way.

Expected to be in attendance are Soca superstars from all facets of the business and nominees who are competing for various technical and artistic awards. This includes Turks & Caicos’ very own Techno Sound who is vying to win the International Soca DJ of the Year against eight others from Atlanta, New York, Germany, Trinidad and Canada.

A red carpet event, the gala ceremony is a presentation of the Brooklyn, N.Y. based Soca Awards Organization, Inc. (SAO), whose founder and CEO is the young and ambitious Trinidadian entrepreneur, Colin Hayden Jackman.

Representatives of SAO, Star Life Productions & Monopoly Entertainment promises iSA 7 to be a glitzy affair filled with the same exciting atmosphere and refined presentations as the previous Soca Awards ceremonies.

According to them, the event will be a special fusion of Calypso and Soca – where artists of the Soca genre will ‘rub’ shoulders with the Ripsaw music of the islands and blend well with the islands’ customs.

A very high profile international entertainment superstar is expected to be the "Special Invited Guest Presenter" at the star studded evening of music, culture, and honors.
